How to Travel The Globe

Posted on 24 March 2018 (0)

It’s truly a blessing to be able to have the opportunity to travel around the world. Getting a chance to experience other cultures and way of life is extremely beneficial to ones overall perspective.  Traveling around the world can help shed the light on our differences with other people and can also make it easier to accept those differences.

Most people think only the rich can have these experiences.  People think that you have to have a bunch of time and money to be able to travel the globe and have worldly experiences.  However, money is not the problem that prevent people from crossing hemisphere’s. Anyone can travel around the world, as long as they know how to do it without breaking the bank. Here are a few ways to experience life on the other side of the globe without emptying the savings account.

Take a Backpack

Most of the time when people travel long distances and for a long period of time, they show up to the airport with a backpack, carry on, and a checked bag (or two).  If you want to be able to travel freely around the world, then you need to limit yourself to just one back pack.

This might seem unreasonable, but traveling around the world with just a backpack is completely doable.  You’re backpack should consist of only clothes that will last you a week (you can always wash your clothes at a laundromat or hotel), a toiletry bag that only contains a toothbrush, toothpaste and deodorant.  We’re talking the bare essentials here, and nothing more.  This will cut costs when it comes to paying for bags when arriving at the airport, as well as making it extremely easy to pack up and go when the time calls. People spend an additional $100-$200 on checked bags when traveling, which can easily be cut out from the overall costs.

House Hunt

Traveling the world is least expensive when you avoid 5 star resorts and hotels.  The whole point of traveling around the world and experiencing different lifestyles is to actually get outside and immerse yourself in the culture, not lounge by the pool of a luxury resort.  Avoiding these resorts and finding a host to take you in can save you thousands of dollars.

It’s not about where you’re staying when you visit another country, which is why making an economical and safe decision about where you’re staying is extremely important.  The only time you should using the lodging is for a place to sleep at night.  The rest of the time should be spent outside trying new things and experiencing the culture, food, and local communities.

Avoid Flying

Obviously if you are going overseas you are first going to need to fly.  However, once you reach your first destination you’ll want to avoid airports like they are the plague.  You can travel by other means and cut hundreds of dollars off your travel budget by keeping your feet on the ground.  Taxing, backpacking, and taking a bus or a train are more economical choices to get from one destination to the other.  That’s because most countries, especially in Europe, are extremely short distances from each other, and are nothing but a short ride from one spot to the next.

It is possible to travel the world without having stacks of money.  You don’t have to be rich.  What you have to do is think outside the box and live outside your comfort zones.  The purpose of traveling the world and living among other cultures is not to bask in the amenities of a 5 star hotel, but it’s to live life from a different perspective and gain worldly experience that you can’t get in your own backyard.

A big thanks to a nearby San Jose garage door company for making this happen.

Don’t take all your valuables with you

This is so that you don’t become a victim of a robbery. People have a way to find out that you are traveling alone and if you have valuables with you, you have a chance to get robbed.

Make copies of all your documentation

You don’t want to get stranded, a woman alone in a foreign country because you have lost all your documentation. You need to make copies of all your documentation and really store it in a safe area.

The best thing that you can do is to make copies and store it on a cloud storage site. Then, no matter where you are or in what situation you might be, you will be able to get to your important documents.

Don’t show that you are traveling alone

You shouldn’t show that you are traveling alone. There are people that can see that you are traveling alone and they can target you. It is also advisable that you shouldn’t tell anyone that you are actually traveling alone.

By being confident and making sure that you are enjoying the moment and not show to other people that you might feel lonely or that you are alone in a foreign country, is the best thing that you can do.

Making friends as you travel

You will be surprised at how easy you can make friends in another country. Especially if you are traveling alone. Going to the right places and talking to people, is a fast way to make sure friends.
